This is Striker.
In his day he was the most persistent dog ever to play fetch.
“Throw the ball.
Throw the ball.
Throw the ball….Hey, I have an idea. Why don’t you throw the ball.”
Now-a-days he mostly sleeps as he’s fast approaching his 13th birthday. But 5 years ago Striker would have made a great marketer. Admittedly he lacks opposable thumbs so this may be a stretch – I’m just saying he has a great marketing trait…
Persistence
Last week I sent a new campaign for a client. It was a single email to a very small list. He had a 4.8% purchase rate on his offer. For every 100 folks on his list, 5 took him up on it.
Now this may not sound amazing. And yes I would have liked to say that 25% bought. But this is all about consistency.
While 5% by itself isn’t anything to retire on, we are going to make that same offer multiple times to two lists. And if every time I hit SEND we get a 4.8% action rate, I’ll be happy.
No one email is going to make you rich. Just keep throwing the ball.
