This whole Bernie Sanders thing is getting serious. He’s outpacing Obama’s fundraising efforts from 2008 and he’s doing it with supposedly tiny donations. The number his campaign keeps quoting is $27. Personally I think it’s bull-hockey. $27 seems like the perfect number to use in a marketing campaign – too perfect.
But whatever it is, it’s probably a small number.
What’s Bernie’s secret weapon?
Take a look at the home page of his website. There is absolutely no question what he wants you to do when you hit this page! Give him your email address.
Notice two key things here.
1 – He’s looking straight at the opt-in form. Which in turn, forces you to look at the opt-in form. He’s subtly saying “give me your email.”
2 – The language of the sign up is very compelling. It states in one simple sentence everything he stands for. And then he asks you to stand for it too. “I Agree”
Not “Submit” or “Find Out More”
but “I AGREE”
VERY powerful stuff.
Once you sign up, he immediately hits you with an offer. The fabled “tripwire” perhaps? Notice the mythical $27 donation. Awesome.
I can’t wait to see what’s on the other side.
After being on Bernie’s list for a week, I must say I’m a little disappointed. He didn’t hit me with any type of welcome series when I signed up. Not one single email!
A few days later I received an email that was very timely so I’m sure that was a broadcast. Since then, I’ve received a couple more broadcasts. Never a single autoresponder.
I’ll preach it until I die – TIME KILLS DEALS! People are never more excited than when they sign up for your email. Follow up while they are hot. Don’t let them forget who you are or lose the excitement.
