You probably know my mantra – One Email, One Action.
Your website is similar in that every page has a purpose. Every page has a goal. Every page has a value.
Imagine you had to pay for every page you created on your website – like you were running an ad in a magazine. You wouldn’t want to waste that money by advertising nothing, would you?
Take a look at this screenshot:
What value does this thank you page provide your customers or your business?
If you paid for this “ad” you’d be ashamed and your friends would make fun of you. And they should because this page provides ZERO value to anyone.
Yet, cruise the internet for five minutes and you’ll find hundreds of these MailChimp Thank You pages.
But what can you do instead?
Almost anything is better than the stock email platform thank you pages.
Here are some things you could include on yours….
1 – Take the time to create a custom thank you page that matches your website.
2 – Tell your new signup what to do next. (look for an email in your inbox, read the about us page, follow us on Facebook, etc)
3 – Present an offer. Give them the opportunity to buy something.
4 – Include whitelisting instructions. Deliverability is a huge issue in email. If they never see your email they can’t open it. Chris Lang has a great resource for creating instructions. I use it all the time.
5 – Make a video. Give them a face behind the name and show them you’re a real person.
Consider what some of your favorite thank you pages are and why you like them.
