As a reader of this blog, you get to live vicariously through my email inbox.
Normally sharing means the most brilliant messages that I receive. But today, I’m sharing with you the deafening silence of a communication breakdown. [insert awesome Zeppelin tune here]
A year ago, I bought a ClickFunnels subscription. I bought in for the one-year plan that gave me the “unlimited” this and the “bonus” that. During the last year, I suffered some head-banging technical issues that had me questioning my decision. Then last fall, Ontraport released an amazing update that solved 95% of the problems I turned to ClickFunnels to solve. [See Ontraport updates here….]
Long story short, I had planned to drop ClickFunnels when my subscription ended.
Now here’s the odd part….
Not once did I receive an email from ClickFunnels to let me know that my subscription was about to expire. Nothing.
In fact, I thought my account was still valid. I tried to log in the other day and discovered it was gone.
At no point did they reach out to me and ask me to re-up. There was no attempt to keep me as a monthly member, let alone a special offer to buy another year.
Surely this can’t be the norm for them. Maybe I fell through the cracks or was lost in automation hell. Whatever the cause, I hope for their sake that it was just me.
Changing over all my optin pages is going to be a pain in the ass. I’m not looking forward to it. If CF had merely made me a halfway decent offer, I may have stayed simply to avoid the pain of change. But by shutting down my account, they have forced me to move on. And so I go.
If you’re selling a product with a definite end date, remember to remind your customers that their time is almost up. Give them options to continue. Show you care. Maybe they’ll stay.
