Ontraport to Zapier Webhook Video Transcript:
Alejandra asked, “How do you do a Webhook out of Ontraport,” so thought I’d make a video just real quick. It’s not that difficult, so I thought we’d make one here. I’m going to make a Zap. I’ve gone to Zapier, which is going to catch my Webhook and pass it on.
I’m making a Zap and I am choosing Webhook. Webhooks by Zapier. I want to catch the hook. In this case I’m waiting for Ontraport to ping the URL. We’re going to use the ping URL rule. What it’s going to do, it’s going to post a hook to Zapier. Zapier is going to catch it, and then we will be able to do things with it. I don’t need anything here in this case.
Now, Zapier is going to give me my hook. I need to copy that. This is the hook. This is going to be the URL and my ping URL. If I come in here to my Ontraport account, my test account, I need to put that here. This is going to be my URL that we’re going to have Ontraport ping. Then down here, I need to put whatever information I need to push out of Ontrapot.
In this case I’ve got ͞contact ID then I can merge in equals and then I merge in the contact ID and ͞first name equals͟ and then merge in their contact ID. I can do ͞email equals͟, and then merge in their email, another ampersand. I can just go on forever. Whatever information I need in Ontraport into Zapier to wherever I’m pushing it. Whenever I need the information I need to get out of Ontraport I can just keep doing this.
It doesn’t have to be a merge field so if I wanted to say ͞”sequence͟” or if I wanted to say ͞”product͟ that they bought”. Maybe we put this ping URL in a sequence and everyone that buys the product goes through the sequence. I can say ͞product equals Product A͟. Then I can use that information in whatever program I’m going to push into out of Zapier.
Once I’ve got that so here I just got it set as whenever I get the tag ͞blue͟ so I can test it really easily. If I go to somebody’s account here and I take off and I’d add back tag ͞blue͟, now I just I fire that rule. That rule just fired. I come back here into Zapier and I say ͞okay I did this͟, it’s going to test and see ͞did we catch anything?͟ They are looking for the hook and yes test successful in my hook. Now here is all the information I just pushed in to Product A, Martha was the first name contact id 602 with that email address.
Now I can continue and I can set up what happens now with this information where I’m I passing it to? Now Alejandra’s case she probably wants to pass it to Teachable but I don’t have a Teachable account so I just show you with my Ontraport account that I have linked to it would be the same concept to whatever you want to push it to.
Here if I’ve got email I just want email. Find that email address. If I want first name, we’ve got first name. If I want contact ID maybe I’m going to use it for something in another program. You know I can push that through as well. If I wanted to use that product code somewhere, I can put that in a field and then continue. Then I got all this information now they want to push this into my Ontraport account which I don’t want them to do because I don’t really want to push it there but you get the idea.
You would test this, make sure it pushes into the other account and then you are all set. Webhook in Zapier is free – you can have, I think, up to five Zaps for free which is five automations set up for free depending on how many people you got going through so pretty simple way to do it. That is all.
